Mozambique
Mozambique stretches for 2500km (1550 miles) on the South-Eastern coast of Africa, bordered by Tanzania to the North, Malawi and Zambia to the North-West, Zimbabwe to the West, and South Africa and Swaziland to the South-West. Two of Southern Africa's longest rivers, the Zambezi and the Limpopo, flow through the country. As you go Westward, the land changes abruptly from a narrow, palm-studded strip of beach along the coast to a broad belt of savannah and woodland, then forested mountains. Trees include Hardwoods, Acacia and Papaya. There is an abundance of wildlife in Mozambique and this includes the rare, endangered Black Rhinoceros.
Please note: Mozambique uses a 220/240 volt electrical system. Please bring the necessary adapters.
Climate
There are two main seasons in Mozambique, one wet and the other dry. The wet season is from November to March and has a monthly average temperature of between 26.6°C and 29.4°C (80°F and 85°F). The dry season lasts from April to October. In June and July temperatures averaging 18.4°C to 20°C (65° - 68°F). The average annual rainfall is greatest over the western hills and the central areas (about 56 inches), and lowest in the Zambezi lowlands averaging 16 inches to 32 inches. Health and Safety
Each lodge is equipped with a well-stocked first aid box, however, if you require specific medication we recommend you bring along a sufficient supply. All of our lodges are in malaria areas therefore we strongly advise that you start a course of anti-malarial prophylactics at least two weeks prior to your arrival. Please consult your medical practioner. At certain times of the year mosquitoes and other insects can sometimes be a little bothersome, particularly when dining outdoors during the evenings. Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in Southern Africa and is well known for its excellent hotels, infrastructure, facilities and for the openness and friendliness of its people. The climate is warm and wet during summer (November to March), with cool, dry winters, between April and October.
Please note: Zimbabwe uses a 220-volt electrical system. Please bring the necessary adapters.
Climate
The dry winter months (May to October) are the most comfortable for traveling, but you'll miss the green landscapes that characterise the hotter and wetter summer season (November to April). In winter, night-time temperatures can fall below freezing but the days are best for wildlife viewing because animals tend to concentrate close to water holes and are therefore easily observed. Clothing and Equipment
Daytime temperatures are warm throughout the year so we recommend light tan clothing. However, during the winter months (May to mid August), nights can get quite chilly, so a warm jacket is essential. Walking is an integral part of the bush, so please make sure you have comfortable, well worn-in walking shoes. Other items that are important are a pair of binoculars, a reliable camera and plenty of film, sunglasses, suntan lotion and a good hat. Please note that it is illegal to wear camouflage clothing in Zimbabwe .
