Animal Tracking
This usually takes place in the early morning or late afternoon but can be arranged to suit your individual needs. One of the most exhilarating experiences in life must be tracking African wildlife on foot. Your professional guide will teach you the fine art of tracking. You will learn how to differentiate between animal species by their spoor, discern their recent actions and behaviours from inspecting droppings or tree and leaf fragments, and estimate their pace through the bush as you quietly follow in their foot steps. This is a fun, informative activity that adds that extra dimension to walking in the bush.
Bush Orientation and Bush Survival Techniques
Zimbabwe is an ideal place for a practical exploration of bush survival. Not only is it a beautiful landsape with good wildlife, but is also not over populated and retains a wild and serene air that is essential for this style of activity. This activity covers a variety of essential survival skills such as orientation, coping with different terrain, sourcing food and water, shelter and first aid, as well as using local materials for medicine, sustenance or tools. As we are in a game area, there will also be instruction on wildlife awareness and tracking. For those with a passion for the outdoors, this is sure to be an engrossing and enjoyable experience.
Guided Bush Walks
Walk or hike through wild and remote areas of our concessions while learning the secrets of the bush from your expert guide. Most people enjoy a 2 to 3 hour walk from the lodge in the morning with a game drive in the afternoon. Zimbabwean guides are recognised as the most highly trained of all African guides, having to complete several years of training and testing before attaining their license. Guides are armed for client safety. Walks are usually slow paced over even terrain and this is a superb way to learn new and interesting facts about the bush. |
