Big Cat Blinds
We offer an exclusive opportunity to our clients to view up close, big cats such as Lion and Leopard feeding on baits from a hidden blind. This exciting activity is restricted to a maximum of 3 people at a time and involves waiting patiently in a disguised blind, approximately 50 yards from a strategically placed bait. Accompanied by a licensed and armed professional guide, this is a unique way to get up close and personal with the big cats of Africa.
Black Rhino Crash
Black Rhinos were decimated throughout Africa from an estimated total population of 100,000 during the late 1960's to fewer than 2,410 in 1995. This staggering decline of more than 97% in just 30 years is the fastest recorded loss of any mammal species. Since 1996, Black Rhino numbers have stabilised and started to rise due to increased security and biological management of remaining animals, and at last count, numbers had reached 3,600. However, there is clearly still no room for complacency. You will spend your days tracking wildlife either on foot or in the landrover with your professional guide, in hope of spotting the elusive Black Rhino. Other exciting encounters are certain as you track through dense bush. This activity is a must for everyone, so book now.
Clay Pigeon Shooting
Clay Pigeon shooting is a thrilling experience, demanding calm concentration, a keen eye and quick reactions. Perfect your aim and time your shots and soon you will be notching up your 'kills'. Of course these are not real birds and no one gets hurt, making it a great sport for all - young and old, men and women alike. Why not find out if you have what it takes to become a crack marksman in one of the fastest growing sports.
Crocodile Creek
This activity is for all those adrenalin junkies out there. Here you will bait a Crocodile and sit back and watch nature evolve before your very own eyes. Your qualified guide will 'talk' you through the various movements that will take place in the bush as the various animals smell the fresh blood. This is a great way to listen to the various calls of nature and offers something totally different.
Curing Animal Hide
Curing involves preservation of a hide by either 'salting' or 'bringing'. During this activity you would be taught how to preserve an animal hide using the salting process. It is indeed fascinating, but if you are squeamish in any way, this activity is probably not suited to you.
Elephant Gun (Large Calibre) Shooting
Ever wondered what it is like to shoot an elephant gun? We at Adventure Calling can make this a reality. Test yourself to hold and shoot a heavy calibre rifle used by professional hunters since the turn of the 20th century.
Four Wheel Drive Excursions
Learn how to drive a four wheel drive vehicle in the environment it was designed to work in. River crossings, steep embankments, and rocky ridges are all part of the terrain we will show you how to navigate through. Drive on your own safari through the african bushveld whilst viewing the big five and more.
Instructed Light Aircraft Flying
Some of our lodges are serviced by well maintained bush airstrips and as such one of the activities we can offer is instructed light aircraft flying lessons. Learn how to stall, spin and recover a light aircraft as well as how to fly low and slow over the African Bushveld. What better way to spot game than from the air.
Making Biltong
For the uninitiated, Biltong is a dried meat product made mostly in Africa. Biltong is a rich inheritance from our pioneering forefathers and is as traditionally African as Boerewors, Braaivleis and sunny skies. Many countries have similar products but none are eactly like biltong and so representative of the taste of Africa. This activity is fun and you will be able to take the biltong that you make home with you, to try out on your friends. Definitely a great way to spend a morning or an afternoon on safari.
Sandboarding
Try your hand at cruising down a dune instead of a ski slope. This activity is loads of fun and easy to grasp. There are all degrees of dunes to suit everyone's level and a must for the active type. Enquire at the Bazaruto Lodge dive centre for full details.
Target Shooting
Our clients have the opportunity to take expert advice from weapons experts and marksmen. Learn how to accurately shoot a rifle, pistol or shotgun, as well as weapons safety procedures, cleaning and basic maintenance of weapons.
Wild Dog Chase
The rare wild dog is a sight not often seen nowdays. It is a gruesome but fascinating affair to watch these animals hunting. The dogs hunt on a daily basis and travel as far as 10 miles or more from their starting point. The hunt is a cooperative affair; the prey depends on the local population of antelope and can include Lesser Kudu, Puku, a variety of Gazelles, or Wildebeest calves. Some packs are reported to kill Zebras or Wildebeest adults. The pack chooses a victim and hones in; not even the twists and turns of a fleet Impala or the frenzied attempts of a Wildebeest to protect her calf can escape the determined, hungry dogs. The pack kills the prey quickly, often disemboweling the hapless creature as it runs. You will track the pack and hopefully be lucky enough to see these fascinating creatures in action. |
